Hi, I’m Emily. In 2007, I started Emily Baker Creative: a multi-disciplinary design house producing work for brands large and small, with a fondness for design strategy, communal food experiences, and visual storytelling.
I have always had a deep love for interior design, the elements, architecture, and anything experiential, which lead me to a pursue a degree in the Design Program at UC Davis , focusing heavily on visual communication and presentation. I graduated and moved to my favorite California city, San Francisco, where I commenced on what would become an 8-year culinary love-affair—eating my way through the Bay Area. Oh, and I also worked as a Marketing Director for a boutique commercial real estate company, freelanced for Fortune 500 companies and indie startups. In 2010, I co-founded a wedding and event co-op, The Collection Event Studio, in Northern California's Wine Country.
In 2013, after the birth of my son, we decided to move back to the Central Coast of California (where I went to high school). Since then, I have continued the freelance life—as an event designer, food-stylist, graphic designer, and brand consultant. I created a roving food + wine experience with a dear friend in 2014, called Wine Camp CA, which popped up in Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo, and See Canyon.
Over the past 15 years, I have worked for brands such as Campo Bar + Bottle, The Penny, Smuckers, Sidecar Restaurant + Cocktail Company, Tinker Tin Trailer Co., Wild Roots Design, Swanson Vineyards, La Boulange, La Tavola Fine Linen, Mill Valley Lumber Yard, Olive & Poppy, CoachArt, Constellation Brands Premium Wine Portfolio, among others. My work has been featured in Wine Enthusiast, Martha Stewart Weddings, Southern Weddings, Apartment Therapy, Style Me Pretty, Snippet & Ink, 100 Layer Cake.
I love anything food-related, and my heart aches for true hospitality—I am drawn to brands and companies that embody this spirit. I spend my free time reading (mostly) nonfiction, cultivating magic and sacred living through ritual, creating comic books with my eight year-old, and savoring that first cup of hot coffee in the wee hours of the morning. Hosting a great dinner party is my favorite pastime. I’m an introvert, an empath, justice warrior, and committed to being a change-maker and culture creator. I try to show up even when it’s really, really awkward and scary. And I think excellent design does the same exact thing.
